Memories to share, moments to relive! A collection of things from the past infused with hope for the future. None of these pics and videos are in any particular order.
DAUGHTER’S BRIDAL SHOWER
This shower was held at a local bar, and daughter decided it should be a “costume party.” Sometimes it’s hard keeping up with the kids!
My amazing cousin made these “life-sized” representations of our daughter and her fiance. They are “wearing” oven mits and they each have gifts held in their “hands.” Amazing!
DAUGHTER’S BACHELORETTE PARTY – MARCH 2013
Our daughter, being the strange person she is, had a bachelorette party to which she invited her brother! They are very close, so I suppose that’s why! She also told all of us that we had to find tacky old clothes to wear; vintage 1970s if we could find them. I found mine at a thrift shop.
The following video shows us, a bit tipsy, being filmed by someone else who was a bit tipsy. Bad video, but I wanted to include it because it was a fun time with my kids!
WYOMING and MONTANA – 2013 – 2014 – 2015 – 2016
My husband and our son make an annual trek out west in the spring to hunt for shed mule deer and elk antlers. It’s not that they sell them or anything. They just collect them. I don’t understand it. I really don’t.
Our oldest son moved to Georgia several years ago. We don’t get to see him too often, so it’s wonderful when he comes to Wisconsin for a visit!
CHRISTMAS – FUN!
We never know what kind of crazy costume the kids will have on when they get here!
EXTREME MAKEOVER – July 29, 2008
Most of us have heard of the popular TV show, but I was part of it in 2008! I heard they were coming to Richland Center, and I even knew the lady whose house they were re-making. I’d taught school with her briefly. I never thought I’d be part of it, though! Imagine my surprise when I got a call from them to join the crew! They had stopped in our court house and were asking for people “skilled” in certain areas. Since I had a greenhouse business then, and also Master Gardener certification from the state, someone mentioned my name and I got the call!
What an experience! It was on July 29, 2008, and the heat was hovering at 98 degrees, with dreadful humidity. But you do what you have to do! The entire thing was amazing! I worked in the garden areas. Plants were provided, and we planned the gardens and planted them. THOUSANDS of plants! While we were doing that there were separate crews working on the interior of the house, on the garage, and on the exterior siding and windows. There was another crew laying sod on the entire expanse of lawn. This house was out in the country. LOTS of lawn!
IXTAPA and ZIHUATANEJO, MEXICO – 2003
I had more fun here than any other place I’ve ever been. I have been to Hawaii twice and Ixtapa (where our resort was) and Zihuatanejo (a fishing village of 50,000 people about 3 miles south of Ixtapa), beat out Hawaii by a long shot! I went with my sister and daughter-in-law.
Besides parasailing, visiting a reef and snorkeling, snorkeling in a big bay, going to the open-air markets in Zihuatanejo, dancing on the ocean shore at night, or all of the other interesting things we did, the highlights were deep sea fishing and catching a sailfish, and swimming with the dolphins.
